Billy C. Brooks 78, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at his residence. Billy was born on October 23, 1944, in Springfield, the son of Carl and Carlton (Guernsey) Brooks. He married Carol Sue Briggs in Mechanicsburg on February 28, 1975 and she survives. Billy was a lifelong farmer and retired pharmacy technician.

Billy enjoyed spending time with his family, including his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-children, working on the farm, reading, hiking, travelling, and attending Fountain of Life UMC church in Buffalo.

He graduated in 1962 from Tri-City High School where he was active in FFA and earned a varsity letter in Cross Country. He earned a bachelor's degree in Agronomy from the University of Illinois. Billy was a volunteer at multiple animal shelters, a regular blood donor, and a long-time member of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau.

Billy is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Steven Wayne Hunter, Scott Howard Brooks, Erin Gracie Brooks, Paul William Brooks and Michael Carl Brooks; grandchildren, April Hunter, Jennifer Brooks, Stephanie Hunter, Bobby Brooks, Karl Brooks, William Brooks, and Madeline Brooks; great grandchildren, Gracie Conover, Noah Smith, Beckham Smith, Carmen Bakunis, Gunner Barnes, Gatlin Peterson and Declan Brooks; one sister, Patricia Bolattino

Private family services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Fountain of Life United Methodist Church.

Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg is in charge of arrangements.
