With heavy hearts we share the passing of Rosalie Elizabeth Carpentier, 85, who died after bravely fighting cancer. She passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, in the early morning on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
Rosalie was born on February 15, 1938, in Decatur, IL, to Helen King Glasgow and Samuel Arthur Glasgow. She was the oldest of the three girls that Helen raised in New Berlin, IL. Both of Rosalie's beloved sisters, Janet Brehm and Ruth Ann Bilyeu preceded her in death in 2022.
Rosalie attended grade school and high school in New Berlin and went on to receive her degree in nursing from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL. While there, she met A.L. Carpentier and they married in 1959. She and A.L. raised three children, Gregory Lee (Brad Minnis), Bradley Lee (Janice Anderson), and Michelle Ruth Carpentier-Lazarz (Jeffrey Lazarz). Rosalie and A.L. lovingly raised their family in Lockport, IL and after the passing of her beloved husband in 2000, Rosalie moved to Lake Petersburg, IL. Rosalie was an avid reader and book club enthusiast. She loved traveling, adored having coffee and luncheons with her friends, and was never happier than when she was doing any activity with her family. Her clever wit, compassionate soul, and sweet demeanor will be forever missed.
Rosalie was also preceded in death by her mother, Helen King Glasgow; Helen's husband, Albert Wilcox; and her brothers-in-law, Terry Bilyeu and Paul Brehm.
Surviving along with Rosalie's three children include her wonderful grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Lucas, Matthew, and Marissa; her beloved nieces and nephews, Bryce Bilyeu (Melinda), Ryan Bilyeu (Sarah Conlon), Bethany Bilyeu, Kevin Brehm, and Allen Brehm (Beth); many loved ones including half siblings, James Glasgow, Maureen Lambert, and Mary Jo Busch; as well as great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a multitude of loving lifelong friends.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
