Lloyd E. Dixon, 93, of Concordia Village, Springfield, died March 27, 2023.

Lloyd was born near Scott’s Mill in Brown County, Illinois, March 17 1930, the third child of Elbert C. and Nellie Dixon. He married Carlene Jean Herter on October 9, 1976 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. He is survived by his niece, Melanie Blume of Rushville, IL., and nephew, Kevin W. (Connie) Dixon of Mt. Sterling, IL. and one great nephew Morgan Dixon of Quincy. Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Louise Hilan of Inglewood, California in 1976, and brother, James W. Dixon of Mt. Sterling in 1986, and by his wife, Carlene Dixon in 2016.

Mr. Dixon attended Mt. Sterling Grade School and Brown County Community High School, and graduated from there in 1948. Lloyd served in the US Air Force from 1949-1952. He graduated from Tri-State College, now Trine University, Angola, Indiana in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.

Lloyd had a thirty-six year professional career with the Illinois Department of Transportation. He retired from IDOT in 1990.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Friday March 31, 2023 at Sugar Creek United Methodist Church, 1022 New City Road, Chatham, Illinois. The family will greet friends from 9:30am until the time of funeral service at church. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
